A day-by-day outfit guide for a Miami weekend, built around one pair of quick-dry shorts.
Miami weather doesn't leave much room for overthinking an outfit — it's hot, it's humid, and you're probably moving between the beach, a restaurant, and somewhere with air conditioning, sometimes within the same afternoon. Here's a simple way to dress for it without repacking every few hours.
Land, drop your bags, and head straight to dinner. A solid-color short like Cement or Khaki with a linen shirt works for most South Beach or Wynwood spots without looking like you tried too hard — or not hard enough.
This is what the shorts are actually built for. Quick-dry fabric and no liner mean you can go straight from the sand into the water and back without the usual soggy-shorts problem. A graphic or monogram print adds some personality for beach photos, if that's your thing.

Same shorts, dry in well under an hour, paired with a plain tee. This is the stretch of the day for wandering Wynwood's murals, grabbing lunch, or hopping between neighborhoods on foot in the heat.
Swap the tee for a button-up, and the shorts still hold up. A clean silhouette with invisible zippers reads more finished than typical swim trunks, which matters if you're heading somewhere with a dress code past "beachwear."

Whatever's driest from the weekend. This is usually where a second solid pair earns its keep, paired with a hoodie if the AC in the morning is doing too much.
For a typical long weekend: two shorts (one solid, one print), two tees, one button-up, and sandals that can get wet. Everything else is optional.
